I started making my Creole Seasoning in 1998, for friends, family and mainly myself. In 2022 I decided I wanted to share my beautiful seasoning and food with whomever is ready to season their food with a touch of Creole flavor!

Once you open the jar, you can see and smell the difference. The Dreux Boys recipe is different and the way we blend our ingredients is unique to our goal of being a 100% real seasoning, we stand out among all other seasonings on the shelf. I am proud of what we have created, it represents our culture and our company!

1920 Mild Blend

1920 Mild Blend

The 1920 Blend was named after my grandmother Lolita Dreux’s birth year. The goal of this blend is flavor without the heat. As my grandmother got older, she would tell me “don’t put too much red pepper”, as it would “mess with her stomach”. This blend does not have any Cayenne Pepper. A popular blend style these days is called AP’s or “All Purpose” seasonings. I am using this blend style in my 1920 a little more lately to add a good base flavor with a touch Creole.

1940 Medium Blend

1940 Medium Blend

The 1940 Blend was named after my mom’s birth year. I remember my mom teaching us about flavor from ingredients and how to season food. Creole food is not supposed to be hot; it should be seasoned well with depth and richness. I was taught, you should never need to season anything at the table, all seasoning is done in the kitchen in the pots.

The goal of this blend is flavor with some heat. This blend should hit the tongue, you should taste the heat then it should slide away. I made some improvements to the blend in the factory as they have more to choose from and fresher ingredients.

Small Batch Seasoning

We make our seasoning with the highest quality, ethically sourced ingredients as the first step. You may ask what does that mean? Our blender works directly with farmers and distributors all over the world. They purposely skip countries like China and Brazil because of poor seasoning quality and unfair treatment of their workers. They source our ingredients from farmers that grow vegetables meant only for seasonings. This means the farmer gets more quantity and a better-quality product from crop to crop, this helps make our blends more consistent.

Small Batch blending is important to Dreux Boys, as it takes more effort to blend a seasoning this way. When I was making my seasoning at home in 1998, I would never think to use additives like citric acid, dye to enhance color or use preservatives. This was an important factor for me when searching for a factory to make and professionally package our seasoning for the retail shelf.

Low Sodium, one of the first things I was taught by my mom in cooking was the use of salt and how important it is. It's all about control of your spices and ingredients when you're building these layers of flavor when cooking Creole food or any food for that matter. I use kosher salt in my Dreux Boys Creole Seasoning and in my kitchen, I believe it has a great flavor and adds good balance to the dish you are making.

Having a product that uses real seasonings to us means growing food without genetically modified organisms (non-GMO) or bioengineering. It's just something that we don't believe in and don't want any part of in our product.

MSG (Monosodium glutamate), like Citric Acid, is a flavor enhancer and they are used when the ingredients are of poor quality. Often added to restaurant foods, canned vegetables, soups, deli meats and other foods. The FDA has classified MSG as a food ingredient that's generally recognized as safe, but its use is still debated. Derived from L-glutamic acid, which is naturally present in many foods. L-glutamic acid is a nonessential amino acid, meaning that your body can produce it by itself and doesn’t need to get it from food. I use Dreux Boys Creole Seasoning in the foods I make in my home, the same seasoning I bring to the marketplace for other people to consume. It's important that it's real and not enhanced in a laboratory for me to put our family name on it.

We don't use fillers like rice concentrate or sunflower oil.

We don’t use sugar.

We don’t use maltodextrin, which helps prevent oxidization and is a preservative.

Producing a Vegan seasoning makes us happy as some seasonings on the market use calcium phosphates that are made from ground up animal bones.

In addition to our small batch attributes our product is Gluten, Dye, and Preservative Free. We don’t use Additives or Fillers; our seasoning is 100% real.

FDA-Approved
Our blending factory is inspected and approved by the Food and Drug Administration, with a clean bill of health.
